2023 Virtual All Majors Career & Internship Fair, Day #2
Apr. 12 | 12–3p
Location: Virtual through Handshake (MyUWF)
The Virtual All Majors Career & Internship Fair is a university-wide, virtual career event for on-campus and regional employers interested in hiring UWF students and alumni to fill full-time, co-op, and internship opportunities. The average job search takes about 6 months, so the time to start looking for opportunities is now!
As a reminder, this is part of a 2-day event. If interested in attending the in-person All Majors Career & Internship Fair on April 5th, be sure to check out the event details in Handshake here: All Majors Career & Internship Fair, April 5th.
For assistance with your resume, cover letter, or virtual career fair tips, you can schedule an appointment or upload your resume in Handshake (accessed through MyUWF), and we can help! We are now offering Virtual Drop-In Appointments every Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. To request a drop-in, use Google Chat to send a direct message to career@uwf.edu during the hours listed!
Set yourself up for success! Follow these guidelines to impress employers at the virtual fair:
- Research employers before the event. Employers will host 1-on-1 sessions and group group sessions. Ensure your Privacy Settings in Handshake are set to "Community" so you can participate in both session options.
- 1-on-1 Sessions (10-minutes): These are great to sign-up for if there are time slots available with an employer you are really interested in speaking with. These individual sessions allow for video-chat and are limited to 10 minutes in duration.
- Group Sessions (30-minutes): These are great to attend if you want to learn more about an employer or if all of their 1-on-1 sessions are already full. Typically, employers will conduct a short virtual presentation, allowing for a Q&A from the group attendees. These groups are limited to 50 students and 30 minutes in duration.
- *Chrome is the preferred web browser for this virtual event.
- Test your Technology: Twilio provides a network test to test internet, audio, visual, etc: https://networktest.twilio.com/
- The event will have chat capabilities, as well as audio-visual. Ensure you are still dressed professionally for any 1-on-1 sessions you might have scheduled and ensure you are prepared to ask thoughtful, relevant questions.
- Have your resume ready. You can add the document to your Handshake profile- making it easier for employers to retrieve the document ahead of time.
